California Whistleblower Law

If an employer fires or threatens to fire you for reporting a violation to the authorities, you may have a whistle blower claim. California law protects employees who report certain violations, including the following:

• Health and safety code violations.
• Falsification of loan documents, invoices and other financial documents.
• Violations of obligations to shareholder or partners in the business.
• Tax and securities fraud.
• Unfair or deceptive business practices.

Employees of the government can sue under a Qui Tam action. Government employees who report fraud or corruption in government contracts or purchasing  activities may be entitled to a portion of the funds recovered.
